Heron and French breakfast
Painting by Oleksandr Topchyi
60 x 75 cm • Oil on canvas
Location:
Kyiv, Ukraine
The artwork returns to the history of the influence of Japanese culture, Japanese artists on French painting, starting with the Impressionists and further. Van Gogh made many copies of works by Japanese artists during his studies. Matisse's works also show a strong influence not only from salon painting, but also from the Impressionists, who were the first to become acquainted with Japanese art and begin to study it.
