The series BLACK PASTELS are experiments with body research. Each work is created in the format of 15-minute nude sketches, written both during personal posing of models in the artist's studio, and at public drawing sessions in galleries in Kyiv and Lviv. The series was born in 2022, after the full-scale invasion of Russia. At first, it was a way for the artist to distract himself and continue his artistic practice, because working in the usual mode with intellectual concepts was impossible both for moral and willpower reasons.In order not to slip into the situation and remain honest with himself, the artist decided to focus on expression and work with nature, which later resulted in a full-fledged series, which now includes more than 100 works.
